Materials & Aggregate

Focused primarily on managing and distributing bulk material and aggregate, the Radds Materials Handling and Aggregate Distribution Division is geared towards improving efficiencies and productivity for its customers by delivering a world class quality service.This Division is the largest contractor to Transnet Ports Operations at the Port of Richards Bay, and more recently at the Port of Saldanha.

The Port of Richards Bay is the country's leading bulk port, with the vast majority of its 330 000 square metres used for Dry Bulk and Multipurpose cargo. It handles 60% of South Africa's seaborne cargo, some 90 million tonnes of cargo per annum.

Radds manages about 80% of these commodities, including Magnetite, Chrome, Sulphate and Chloride ore in the Dry Bulk Terminal, and Ferro-Chrome, Coal, Rock-Phosphate, Chrome Ore and Pig Iron in the Multi-purpose Terminal.At the Port of Saldanha, South Africa's largest natural anchorage, Radds manages over 5 million tonnes of Manganese and Iron ore per annum making use of specially designed and fabricated skip containers to provide an efficient and cost effective service to Transnet Port Operations

With major operations in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape and Western Cape, this Division also services the aggregate distribution requirements of Lafarge and Afrisam countrywide.The backbone of the Division is its robust and reliable fleet of: wheeled loaders, articulated dump trucks, graders, tracked dozers, skid steers and specially adapted excavators designed by Radds. Local equipment manufacturer, Bell Equipment, provides most of the fleet requirements enabling Radds to meets the demands of Transnet Port Operations and the local shipping industry, where uptime and productivity are key drivers to meeting its targets and service levels.
